Rapid urbanization and increasing extreme weather events have reduced the natural capacity of landscapes to absorb stormwater, contributing to flooding, erosion, and declining groundwater recharge. Traditional drainage infrastructure alone may not be sufficient to address these growing climate and environmental challenges.
The City is seeking innovative approaches to integrate nature-based solutions into urban planning and infrastructure. Solutions should explore the use of floodable parks, bioretention basins, blue walks, green corridors, and other ecosystem-based interventions that manage stormwater, reduce flood risks, restore natural water systems, and enhance the livability and resilience of Baguio.
